Gold Coast Performance Centre has strengthened its position as Queensland’s number one destination for Athletics Events as the Centre installs a 12m long track booth.

As a training venue for the recent 2018 Commonwealth Games, the Performance Centre located at Runaway Bay refurbished the track to IAAF standards, opening the doors to a number of international athletes.

The 8-laned 400m track, just needed one final piece to the puzzle to really take it to the next level. Now with the new track booth along with the top of the line photo finish system, the facility has the capacity to host State and National events.

Track, Field and Events Manager Antony Drinkwater-Newman said “We are very happy with the result of the track booth. Combining our service, facilities and ample parking onsite, we can’t wait to start hosting high level events. We currently host approximately 50 athletics meets / carnivals and a number of Queensland events annually however I believe we’re ready to open our arms to bigger events.”

Not only is the Gold Coast loved by athletes due to the glorious weather, but the Centre provides the optimal training environment as a one-stop-shop. Athletes can train on the track and in the gym, then recover in the pool and ice baths, enjoy nutritious meals and stay in the onsite accommodation.
