TALENT scouts here for the inaugural PSM Combine were impressed with what they saw – already several professional contracts are on the cards for participants of the event. About 200 of rugby league’s most promising young players from across Australia and overseas came together for two days of strength, fitness and athletic ability testing out on our oval and track here at the Sports Super Centre. The idea of the events was to give rugby league coaches and officials a chance to identify upcoming talent. There were some outstanding results recorded on the day, including one athlete reaching stage 14 of the running fitness “beep test”, and two others out-jumping a 3m measuring mat from a standing start. Some of these young guns will be on TV screens soon thanks to this event, and we’re looking forward to hosting it again next year. Keep an eye on Fox Sports for coverage of the event.
