Ice bath therapy is an immensely popular way to recover from exercise. Contrast water therapy involves firstly submerging your body in a hot bath which has a temperature of above 37 degrees Celsius then following up with submerging your body into a cold bath where the temperature is 10 degrees Celsius. This treatment aids the body to extract waste, stimulate circulation and reduce sore aches and pains.

Ice Bath Therapy Benefits:

By alternating between very cold and very hot water you create a muscle pump effect of built up lactic acid and waste. The hot water opens or dilates the blood vessels which were constricted during the ice bathing that effectively flushes your system. Some reported benefits of contrast therapy include:

  • Improved circulation of blood to all parts of the body
  • Increased metabolism
  • Muscle & Joint pain relief – Speeds up recovery and promotes injury repair
  • Reduced mental stress and anxiety
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Improves overall athletic performance
  • Improves sleep
  • Strengthens the bodies immune system
  • Assists with removing Lactic Acid
